Hey everyone! I have some questions regarding what I should do if someone took a loan out in my name with the company “WithU loans”. They have started calling me saying I have a loan with them but I have never taken a loan out with this company. And because when I call they want my last 4 of my social before ever speaking with anyone I have no way of even talking to anyone without giving up some personal info. And that just raises a lot of red flags. How would I go about fixing this?

Freeze your credit
File a police report (they won’t be able to do anything, but filing a report under penalty of perjury helps support your case).
Send a forma letter to the company letting them know it wasn’t you.
Pull your credit reports. Is it showing on there?
Does it appear on your credit report?
Get a credit report and see if the loan appears on it. Sounds like a scam.
Kind of hard to dispute a loan against you if you won’t even identify yourself.
Pull your annual credit report and see if the loan appears. If not, it’s a scam. If it does, file a fraud alert.
Okay as of right now no showings of this on my credit report so I’m just gonna file under scam. But I’ll keep a watchful eye
I swear that a bunch of collections agencies got hold of lousy AI and some stolen PII lists, and now they just email everyone with the same name saying you owe them money in hopes you pay.
Don’t call them and don’t verify anything with them. Contact an attorney and contact all credit bureaus and have them freeze your credit because you’re a victim of identity fraud.
It could just be and probably is a phishing fraudster trying to get info to open new accts in your name.
