I live in a kinda crappy apartment complex with a small residents-only lot and no cameras. A week ago someone hit my car, I was in my apartment and didn’t know. Then I went downstairs to run an errand and saw a paper with “I’m so sorry” and her phone number. I called her, she said she did it and she was just in a hurry and made a mistake. We texted and she gave me all her information and photos, and I made a claim to her allstate insurance.

Now I’m hearing that it’s being specially investigated, and I’m worried because it’s just her word against mine and what if she’s claiming she didn’t hit me? Yes she left a note, which I kept, and yes I have screenshots of her texting me all her documents, but why else would it go to the extra investigation?

    1. If the claim went into the special investigation unit, it’s less likely to be because of the cause of the accident and way more likely to be something that might cause her vehicle not to be covered.

Maybe she isn’t listed on the policy, maybe she hadn’t paid her bill but did right after, who knows.

Either way, none of this is good for you. I would call my own insurance and let them repair the car if you need that vehicle for transportation. This could easily take 30+ days and there’s a half decent chance they end up denying the claim at the end of the day.
