So here we are with my fourth post on Reddit.
M25, and honestly I have no idea what to do with my life.
I’m Swiss but studied in Italy, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Economics and Business Management. I regret it so much because the university wasn’t target (Cattolica in Milan) and my GPA was low (around 3.0). It even took me 6 extra months to finish.
After wasting another 6 months, I finally landed my first internship in Lugano (Switzerland). Another regret: not applying for internships while studying. I just didn’t have the energy to study and work at the same time. The problem is that this internship is in digital marketing. I kinda like it, but… let’s be real, the money in this field is not great.
Another thing: staying in Italy or Ticino feels like a “low level” decision to me. I want to go abroad. But how? Should I do a Master’s? GMAT feels literally impossible for me.
On top of that, my parents and relatives are all incredibly successful. Good careers, good businesses, huge salaries. Meanwhile, I see myself as the failure of the family.
So yeah, I’m desperate. Did anyone here become successful later on, even if they felt lost at 24–25? Did anyone start as a “C student” and still manage to land a good career abroad?
Thanks in advance to whoever takes the time to answer.
25, Swiss, italian-speaking, regret my degree and feel like a failure. Any advice?

You obviously have zero drive. You won’t find success in any field unless you find work that motivates you. I would try to find something you’re passionate about and pursue a masters in that field. There is no timeline to success. Just do what feels right to you.
If I were you, I wouldn’t worry.
You speak English, Italian and Swiss German (and maybe one or two other languages), you have a Bachelor’s degree and you’re employed.
Just keep an open mind and continue working – preferably – in a multinational environment.
With your background and experience, I’m fairly confident that you’ll be able to aim for decent positions.
You are young, plenty of chances await you. Don’t beat yourself up, take your wins — a good degree (so what if it took 6 months extra???) — an internship that you enjoy (you are not stuck in digital marketing—people change jobs and even fields all the time). Give yourself a break. Don’t compare yourself to your family or relatives. You need to find what works for you. C average? So what? No one will care, that’s in the past — it’s only what you do from now on that matters! You are young, dwell on your future and not on your past. Now go forth and prosper!
Apart from the self-doubt it sounds like you are doing great and you’ve achieved a lot.
I heard that in eurpope its basically manditory to get a masters or they don’t take your degree seriously. Not sure how true that is, but if you do a masters you can choose a specialty you are actually interested in at least and has good prospects.
Does your family have a business? Can you work for that?
AI is disrupting so many fields right now that I don’t think it’s sensible to get another degree. You don’t really know which jobs will endure and where the new opportunities are.
Don’t focus on whether tasks like “digital marketing” are right for you. Figure out instead what problem in the world you are interested in helping to solve. Let that be your north star and figure out how you can do some good. If it’s a big enough problem there will always be a need for people to work on it.
