My husband is rebuilding our garage and tracking in lots of dirt and sand . We have old Lino flooring that is impossible to clean anyway but I still need to try and keep this dust from being tracked ALL over the house. I am older and my back bothers me so vacuuming daily is a chore. Sponge mopping every evening is also out as it requires time to dry and hubby is working in the early evenings to get out of the sun and heat. I thought a swiffer wet jet would be a good idea but the price of those pad replacements is daunting. Any ideas on some good substitutes?

Cheaper more environmentally conscious alternatives to a Swiffer Wet jet.

You can get reusable, washable pads for those swiffer type mops! I have a couple and I just toss them in with the rest of my hot wash laundry (towels, bed sheets, etc)

Amazon has cloth pads that stick on the swiffer jet for mopping. Throw in wash later. I have used old towel rags that I cut to size and my old swiffer mop had a groove on top you can tuck into.
I now use a steam mop that I find more useful.

Just get something like a Bona Floor Mop that has reusable washable microfiber pads. You can even just attach a rag to it if it sticks to velcro. And you can use whatever solutiin you prefer. Mi have wood floors so I use Murphy’s. Much easier than anything else I’ve tried and I do not use disposable cleaning stuff.

    4. Buy a stiff bristle cleaning brush and mount it upside down outside the door. Tell him to brush his boots over it a couple times before coming in the house to prevent the dirt and sand from making it inside.

Also rewashable pads like everyone else said.

I ditched my swiffer for a dollar tree version with dollar tree dusting pads and mop pads. Great for floors, windows, fans etc
