Code Upgrade limit is often 10% of dwelling (or 10% of unattached structures) limits. It’ll come down to the amount the home is insured for, 400k dwelling limit means only 40k can go to code upgrade such as IWS, new sheathing etc. Code Upgrade is always paid after it’s incurred and usually you have to show that its code.
