Getting an electric potato masher at a discount is possible if you look around

I used to see electric potato mashers as unimportant to own and they were only for fancy kitchens, so I never planned on getting one. I was always of the opinion that they cost too much and I wouldn’t use it enough to equate the price to usage. But when I started cooking more for my family, I saw how much time it could save, so I began looking around for alternatives.

I initially noticed the price changes a lot depending on the store. Some shops ask for very high amounts, but if you take time and check different places, you can find better deals. Online shopping opened up even more choices, and I saw many types of potato mashers and prices listed on Alibaba for instance.

For me, strength and build were most important. I didn’t want to buy one that breaks after a few tries. Reading reviews and checking the details helped me pick one that felt strong but still fit my budget.

Now I use it often, and it makes mashing potatoes much faster and easier than by hand. If you think they’re too pricey, I’d say there are good deals out there if you look. Do you use one, or do you still mash the old way?

    1. I’m against single-purpose appliances, and to me mashing potatoes isn’t a task that needs to be automated or expedited at all, but good for you I guess.

I prefer a potato river and you can sometimes find them in second hand or goodwill stores, they kinda look like a colander with a handle that rotates on top, very easy to use and the old ones are solid. I got mine for $2

I didn’t even know electric potato mashers were a thing. My mom always cut them up and boiled them.
