I’ve been reading about the Portia Louder case, but really unsure of what exactly she did and what made it illegal.
Can someone explain to me what crime Portia Louder committed, but in terms that someone who doesn’t know about finance/real estate would understand?
Can someone explain to me in simple terms what Portia Louder did to be imprisoned?

At most basic terms she falsified information (multiple areas) on mortgage applications to obtain loans. Lying to get loans in general, but specifically at higher values then what the homes were actually worth, pocketing the difference
While the crime she committed was about mortgage fraud, she’s just another LDS grifter who thinks she’s anointed by God to do as she pleases.
