I used Rocket Money for a few months just to get a handle on all my subscriptions to see what seemed worth cutting. To its credit, I did have like two smaller subs I'd forgotten about that it helped me notice. I also tried out their bill negotiation service, to see if they could save me money on my internet bill. I let them negotiate with Comcast on my behalf, to mild success, although they actually ended up costing me money by negotiating a lower rate that only lasted 3 months, after which my bill was double what is was before. But what happened this week was the most interesting.
I canceled RM about two weeks ago, then yesterday, out of nowhere, I got a text from Comcast with a 2FA code, the kind you get when someone is trying to access or change your account. I didn't think much of it, because I figured no one could do anything to my account without the code. Then, an hour later when I check my email, I see that someone has canceled my Comcast service and that it will disconnect at the first of the month. So I go to my local Comcast store that's down the road, and remove the pending cancellation, which was only on my account for about an hour and a half. At the time I did briefly wonder if RM had something to do with it, but I figured that that couldn't be the case since I'd canceled my RM sub, and so I assumed that my accidental disconnection was probably just someone trying to connect service at a nearby address and making a mistake.
Then, today I got an email from RM saying they couldn't negotiate my bill anymore because my Comcast account was disconnected. Which is weird for two reasons, the first being that they shouldn't be trying to negotiate my bill at all anymore because my RM subscription is canceled and past the renewal period, and two because my Comcast account was only "canceled" for a little over an hour yesterday. I'm not saying it was malicious, maybe some dude at RM just fucked up, but I would not trust this company to do anything on your behalf.
Avoid Rocket Money, pretty sure they just tried to cancel my internet.

Good thing you didn’t get to the part where they’ll bill you a percentage% of what they saved you on that bill.. lol, I only have rocket money because of my mortgage but it feels very scammy since they charge a percentage of what they “save you”
Such a weird product. Giving some website all your login details just so you don’t have to read your credit card statement one month.
>but I would not trust this company to do anything on your behalf.
Their whole business model is calling vendors and pretending to be you, that’s not exactly *starting* from a place of trust.
good rule of thumb if its in a youtube sponsor segment 99% of the time its basicly a scam
