Is your travel spend primarily going to be on rental cars? Do you have any preferred airlines/alliances? Any preferred hotels? How important is lounge access?
The 3 most popular premium travel cards are AMEX Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and Capital One Venture X.
Given you don’t have a ton of travel spend and it all seems to be on car rentals, I would go with a Venture X. It is the cheapest and has a very straightforward easy way to recoup the annual fee at basically full value. It offers primary rental car coverage and 10x points on rental cars and hotels booked through their travel portal. I have used their portal for hotels a lot, but never for a car rental. For hotels, it was very easy to price match. Unfortunately, the Venture X doesn’t have an elevated earn rate for dining, but it has 2x on everything, which is decent. The Capital One lounges are also nice.
There are a lot of travel cards out there with varying annual fees and category earn rates.
I would also seriously consider getting the Bilt Rewards card. It has no annual fee, but is basically a travel card with decent perks. You can also pay your rent with it.
