Hi everyone,

I run a small bakery with my mom and I’ve been thinking about website accessibility. I’ve read stories about small restaurants getting sued because their sites aren’t ADA compliant. Since we put our menu and online ordering on the site, I want to make sure everyone can use it without spending a fortune.

    Some options I’m considering:

Hiring a developer to audit or rebuild the site

Doing small fixes myself, like converting PDF menus to text or adjusting fonts/colors

Has anyone dealt with this for their business website? Did you hire someone, use a service, or handle it in small steps yourselves? Any tips on affordable solutions would be really helpful.

    1. We hired a local developer to make our site accessible. It cost more upfront but it saved us headaches later.

    2. We got rid of PDFs for our menu and put everything on the site as text. Not perfect, but way easier for customers and accessibility.

    3. I used AccessiBe at first, but switched to WebAbility. io because it was more affordable for a small business. It flags the basics like missing alt text and color issues. Not a complete solution, but it helped me see where we stood before hiring a developer.

Honestly, we haven’t done much besides making sure hours and contact info are easy to find. Your post is making me nervous lol.

    5. This is a pretty common request for web apps, my partner and I are developers maybe our profile could interest you !

I’m more on the security and compliance side and she’s more on the management and pure dev side of things.

We’re used to smaller businesses that don’t have the budget of multinationals for compliance. But every business should be able to be secure and compliant so we’re ready to adapt to your needs/limits to make it work.

Hey buddy! Nice to hear that you are working with your mom.

Advice: You should open a website for quick orders and also run ads on large platforms or youtubers help if possible. After that open a large shop with variety of options of food to the users. Also make sure to collect feedbacks for quick trust.

Working: you can try out facebook, youtube like big platforms too if needed and also try to do something unique so that media covers you quickly. In future you can make a brand or company competing to burgerking or McDonalds!

Work fast. Earn fast. Do expansion. And chill !
