The elephant in the room here is that it was a split decision 6-3 if i remember correctly, with all 3 dissenters coming from republican nominations.
This brazen supreme court has been rebuting scores of quasi-unanimous appelate circuits rulings thanks to its shameless shadow docket abuse. So that they don’t even have to try and justify their actions which are obviously contrary to ever hypocrite belief they have ever proclaimed about « the rule of law » or « states rights ».
They have shown more than enough cowardness and willingness to wreck core accountability principle to nullify this ruling and give trump what he wants. Shadow docket will mean that they can reverse course on a whim should any democrat ever come close to the resolute desk without having to eat their own written shitty words.
So the rationale to end the congress’s power of appropriations is bound to be : there is an emergency because i have decided so.
Of c they could uphold and force congress to taie responsability and vote for this. But i fear they won’t. For this is the supreme court that issued the absolute immunity ruling, this monstruosity.

We all know what’s going to happen. What the justices need to remember is that life goes on after all this insanity and they will have to answer for everything one day.
