Wondering if anyone experienced something similar or knows a bit more about this than me!
This is the first time we’ve owned a house or even had to think about home insurance claims so very much out of our comfort zones.
Our dishwasher started leaking from the back, this has caused the laminate flooring to rise up and bubble, the damage is definitely not massive so we’re unsure if it’s even worth claiming for it? Obviously unsure on how bad the damage might be that we can’t see as the flooring wasn’t exactly sealed off under the dishwasher so the water just went straight under the floor.
The issue is that we have laminate flooring all of downstairs : kitchen, downstairs loo and two reception rooms as well as matching flooring in the bedrooms upstairs. Would the insurance company try to only replace the few damaged panel’s? If so is that even possible?
Do insurance companies tend to do the work themselves, ie send their contractor out or would we have a say in this? Would we have to move out of the house for this work to be carried out?
Sorry for all the questions, just feel a bit lost on what the best approach is! We have full buildings and contents insurance.
