I'm a Sophomore transfer at UMN, pretty good economics school, only last year in my freshmen year after taking an intro to economics class at my old college did I decide to take on the major. I'm not coming in with a lot of math experience or AP classes to give me credits towards the degree, I'm currently looking at an Econ/Stats double major. I'm hopping on the internships and thinking about looking in to opportunities for undergraduate research, but I fear I'm simply just not qualified at the moment for any of that.
I'm having to take classes with freshmen, I'm only in Calc One now. I don't think I'll take an extra year to graduate, but I did pretty poorly in school last year due to some personal circumstances and I've only ever worked service jobs.
I should work some of my math knowledge in this year, I'll be getting Calc Two done next semester. Is it worth it to look into research and internships?(this is specifically analysis internships, I'm looking at some in NGOs, maybe local city governments, my end goal is to work in the public sector, not that that's looking very good at the moment) Or is there something else I could be doing to build my knowledge and resume?
Feeling Behind In my Studies, switched majors and schools. Should I still look into internships and research opportunities?
