Stock market took a small hit on Friday with crypto market taking a huge hit. I expect a swift recovery on Monday if Trump puts out on Truth Social a TACO post.
China appears to soften their stance on recent rare earths export controls.
From China:
• The recent change is NOT a full export ban
• Applications that “meet regulations” will be approved
• Willing to engage in deeper dialogue to strengthen dialogue to "better maintain stability of global industrial and supply chain
• Relevant impact of export controls is "very limited"
• Calls this a "necessary defensive action"
China also adds that they will take measures if the US persists in raising tariffs.

Where’s this de-escalation you’re talking about? They’re simply giving Trump the stairs to climb down while holding onto every bit of leverage

I read it in Chinese and how this is a de-escalation? It reinforces their action is appropriate in their view. Stop spamming headline.

I don’t think this is a de-escalation, just a clarification. They are requiring licenses for anything that contains at least 0.1% of China rare earths… like they have a say on what products use their materials and where the final product will be sold, etc. This press release is telling me that they are willing to work with the world, but will choke the United States if they so choose.
China and the US need each other (particularly China) to maintain GDP and economic growth targets – they both know it, but don’t want to admit it. What we’re seeing at the moment is all rhetoric and empty threats. Things will smoothen out, hands will be shaken and markets will recover…as they always do !
