Just experienced my first hit and run. Someone rolled back and hit my car at the traffic light on the off ramp. It was 5:20am and the car ran after it did that. Not going to lie, I followed them for a good mile honking my horn and flashing my lights at them trying to signal them to stop but they kept driving. I managed to get their license plate and car model and turned so I could go to work since they had no intentions to pull over and handle this. I was going to be late to work if I called the cops plus did not feel safe pulling over on the side of the road alone (female and this happened in National City in San Diego, a high sex trafficking area). I’m in the Navy and had duty that day so I called CHP and they directed me to the office to make a hit and run report.

I went in this morning after my duty day and I told them the story. Since my car had no visible damage except my license plate, they said me reporting this would be more harm than good for me. Is this even worth making a claim?

Are people allowed to just hit and run as long as they leave no damage to the car??! Because this is insane. Even if it was an accident, he (car that hit me) should still stop on the side of the road and figure it out. I was HONKING and flashing my lights to get his attention to pull over but he was not doing it.

    Is it worth to claim?
