I (26F) live in NJ and had a fender bender around 3 weeks ago. Other driver backed into my parked car in my local Walmart parking lot. Nobody was hurt and police were not called because it was just a few deep scratches on my car. I filed a claim with Geico, since I had dropped Comp and Collision a few months back I was told all they can do is go after the OP’s insurance, which I agreed to.

OP’s insurance accepted liability for the accident within a week and paid in full for my repairs and rental car.

With that being said will my rates go up since Geico didn’t pay for anything and the accident was not my fault? I haven’t received anything from them since they filed the claim with OP’s insurance, but my policy isn’t over until 2/2026

    Should I expect a Rate increase ?

To my knowledge, NJ doesn’t have laws on the books like some states that prohibits insurers from increasing rates for not at fault claims/accidents, so yes it’s possible your rates could increase, tho no one can say for certain.
