I’ve posted here before but looking to see if anything has changed or if anyone has any insight. I left SAVE and switched to old IBR. The back door payment link shows the following though:
    Old IBR: 0 qualifying payments
    New IBR: 301 qualifying payments
    ICR: 296 qualifying payments
    PAYE: 296 qualifying payments

When I left SAVE, I had 300 qualifying payments. I thought that when my first payment in October under old IBR went through, the back door method would update under old IBR but it keeps tacking my payment count into new IBR, which I am not on. I know the government is shut down but is that why the back door method hasn’t been updated on my account yet? What kind of recourse do I have here? My payments are very high, too. Thanks for your help!

Several folks on here have posted about this glitch…mine show under IBR on the backdoor counter and I did get the golden email, but you could look at posts from RaynbowUnicorn—they’ve posted about their situation a few times. From what I remember, theirs were showing under IBR_2014. I thought my forgiveness email might be a scam at first so I asked my servicer (Aidvantage) via email on their website for an official payment count and got a response pretty quickly. Heard today that a physical letter with my count should arrive in 7-10 business days, but I don’t know if it will only include number of payments total or specifically payments that qualify for IBR forgiveness. Are you officially on IBR now instead of SAVE? If so that’s encouraging, I’ve heard that emails about forgiveness are continuing to go out even with the shutdown.
