I’ve always been intrigued seeing ppl build their real estate empire but adding one rental property after another as a means of reaching their financial freedom, but as someone who’s grown up in the bay area their whole life there is no possible way of doing this locally (prices are insane). Has anyone who’s grown up in the bay down this remotely? How did it work out for you
Has anyone who lives and works in the Bay Area entered the real estate market for investment/rental income? If so did you do so remotely?

yes and yes. couldn’t afford in the bay area, so i bought a condo in tahoe and put it on airbnb. worked out well. condo about doubled in value, and the property has been profitable each year after all expenses. that said, if i had taken the downpayment and simply invested it in the S&P 500, it would be about the same returns without all the extra work.
