I'll start with my own data point. This had me curious as I was recently on a Smuckers earnings call and the question was asked, paraphrasing, "If the tariff rate on coffee is only 5-10%, and manufacturing has not gotten meaningfully more expensive, why is Folger's brand coffee seeing a 25% margin growth" and the answer was basically "the consumers support the price growth" which means "screw you, you'll pay me anyways"

I get 2lbs of fresh roasted coffee delivered to my door for $27/month. Light to medium roast, and I did the "roaster's choice" selection so I just kinda get whatever, but I've never been unhappy with anything I've gotten.

I use 30g per day to make 18oz of coffee at a 17 to 1 ratio.

This basically comes out to about $.85-$.90 per cup of coffee for me.

Funny enough, I've been paying this same price for years, tariffs etc have not impacted what I pay, nice. Coffee shops near me have almost collectively raised their prices on a "large coffee" to almost $4.50, which is absurd to me.

A lot of people seem to be unaware that there have been smaller coffee crops the last few years due to weather issues. The 50% Brazil tariffs have only been in effect since August. Not long enough to have a huge effect.

I buy Starbucks Espresso roast whole bean at Sam’s club or trader Joe’s, medium roast whole bean coffee- both of which are $.52 per ounce if not on sale (Starbucks is on sale at Sam’s right now for $.37 an ounce) – I use 14 g in my espresso shot for my latte. That comes out to $.26 for the coffee portion of the latte and then an extra $.17 for my whole milk (8 oz of whole milk). I drink it over ice every morning! I’m saving a lot of money compared to when I was making a Daily Nespresso pod that came close to a dollar just for the coffee portion.

    3. I found a local roaster that buys directly from farms. I can get some value brands cheaper on amazon but they are $25 for 2lbs and $40 for 5lbs. Everything they sell is roasted the same week as the sale.

I buy a combo- HEB brand whole beans in a couple of their flavors and either Starbucks whole bean espresso roast dark or Eight O’Clock medium-dark (whichever is cheaper at Sam’s). I mix the flavored with the plain about half and half.

    5. I just buy coffee at the store, not the same kind every time. Yesterday I got store brand organic for under $0.80/oz, which includes a small markup for picking up my order. I don’t claim this is particularly frugal but it’s like $0.25 or $0.30/day for me and that’s fine.

    6. Canadian here. I subscribe through Detour coffee. 2 300g bags per month. 52.33 per month. 20g daily for about 230ml. So about $1.75 per cup. I only drink one cup per day in the morning.

    7. I average $14-16 a pound depending on which bean/flavor and whether I’m buying 1lb to try or a larger bag. I pick it up but the roaster lives less than 5 minutes from me so it’s quite convenient.
So far they haven’t raised their prices at all this year.

    8. I just watch sales and stock up. A good price is less than $.40 per ounce. (I just can’t with some cheaper store brands) I love Cafe Bustelo, but it’s not cheap. Aldi and Save a Lot sell knockoff Bustelo. Unfortunately these stores are not where I live now. Anytime I visit my hometown I bring back coffee.

    9. I will occasionally see deals online (SlickDeals) for coffee–usually Peet’s or Starbuck’s brand coffee. A typical deal I’ve seen is them selling 10.5oz bags (usually retails for around $10-$12) and discounting them to below $4. I will load up enough for say a years worth. There was a deal yesterday that had Mr. Dickason’s Blend for $3.57/bag and the batch was marked good till July 2026.

I use an Aeropress and each 10.5oz bag gives me between 25-26 10oz servings of coffee. So cost per serving with tax is around $.16.
