All those circular deals might be coming to an end as Google & Google deepmind start winning the AI war against OpenAi.

The new models are now taking away big market share & Google has integrated gemini in just about everyone of there products from search, YouTube, waymo and more.

The release of Gemini 3.0 & Nano Banana pro has been a huge hit on OpenAi future.

No need for OpenAi to IPO now – LONG $GOOGL $GOOG. Most profitable company in the world, growing rapidly at this scale.

    1. I started using gemini this week because chatgpt was down from the cloudflare thing. with coding, gemini gives you the answer in like 3 seconds. chatgpt will sit there for 20 seconds and think through all these steps and whatnot, and then takes ages to spit out the answer as it slowly scrolls down. kind of amazed me how much faster gemini was to come up with the same answers. the code worked just as well as chatgpt after it adapted to what I was doing

The only company which is not circular financing and developing every product on their own is google. They might be late but I am sure they will be the leader like how they dominated yahoo

    3. Whoever can help students cheat the best without looking like AI will win the larger individual user share.

    4. Given all the conversations around OpenAI’s finances and audit, I would love to see them actually file an S1 for their IPO. There’s been some chatter that they go the SPAC ways because less scrutiny LOL. I’m guessing if OpenAI goes down the most exposed would be CRWV, NBIS, ORCL, NVDA and MSFT to an extent (but they get to pick up the IP so all good).

    5. you know what, Google is already listed so retail can get in on the AI action (unlike just hearing about OpenAI deals) and profitable and has bull case to be made considering Waymo and other divisions and current valuation is not that of a premium to fundamentals (even Buffet bought in last quarter)

so I kinda hope they beat them and for once wish to see a good company become a meme stock on this sub (I know that’s probably not gonna happen considering the big market cap and healthy float!)

    6. Google will win the AI race, but only if it isn’t ripped apart by all the damn lawsuits it keeps getting hit with, I swear they could easily be 50 PE like Nvidia, but all the damn legal trouble won’t go away.

    7. I will not get tired of saying this but Google invented the fucking Transformer architecture, the backbone of LLMs. OpenAI were just a bunch of nerds when Google released *Attention Is All You Need.* Plus, Google does everything on their own infra, they are profitable without AI, they do not beg for govt bailouts in advance, etc.

    8. Yup, google just ate openAIs lunch. chatGPT isn’t the top model anymore, and good luck trying to catch up to a superpower like google who just lapped you. lol

All of the partnerships and deals they were making were ridiculous. OpenAI has no moat…. there is nothing special about what they do. Once the technology was found and advancements made public, they had no chance of winning….. since at that point it just became about money (which buys talent and processing power).

OpenAI could only beg other companies to give them money to keep going, while trying to hamstring their own models to save as much money as they could. Half baked ideas and random projects to try and monetize stuff while they could. Meanwhile google just said “get it done”. They didn’t need to play games short term to try and make a few extra bucks, they just wanted the top tech.

OpenAI won’t be around long in any serious manner. Hopefully they stick around with some funding to keep researching, but they really went far over their skiis on AI and their importance to the industry…..

    9. GOOGL has been at the forefront of AI since before LLMs existed and were also first to the party with LLMs. If any of the currently known companies are winning its them.

Dang not that it’s a huge deal but bonus points for tying in the $20 pro subscription into Google One with 2tb of storage and all that jazz instead of making is its own separate thing as well. That’s chill. Might actually cancel my OpenAI sub

    11. the information is a tabloid

there’s a kernel of truth in their stories, and they spin it into pure fantasy then blame readers for drawing out the logical implications of their sensational insinuations

so openai wasn’t first to market this time, just like google wasn’t a year or so ago when everybody thought they were cooked. if you’d traded on that narrative you would have lost big time

Google is the most well-positioned company in this AI race. They have their own Data centers and TPUs and their net cashflow is 100- billion dollar per year. Meta & Tesla are the worst in this AI race. They have to buy everything, GPU, Datacenters etc. I wont touch anything related to Zuck & Musk with ten foot poles in this war of attrition

    13. Claude is so much better than ChatGPT now it’s not even funny.

ChatGPT tried to build their own data centers which is extremely costly so they had to reduce the precision of their models to cut costs which makes the LLMs super unreliable and prone to mistakes.

Claude is focused on renting data centers from AWS to reduce costs and focusing on profitability with business customers. They can still afford to keep their models precise and it’s why Claude is lightyears ahead of ChatGPT now.

    14. Interesting how Google sowed the seeds for AI but it took OpenAI to show the world what could be done with it.
