"Hi! I’m looking for advice on how to find the cheapest flight from Porto to JFK in New York between February 14 and 24. I’ll be traveling alone and I don’t have much experience with airports, so I’d prefer a direct flight or only one layover and would like to avoid very large or confusing airports. The budget is not my main concern as long as the option is safe and straightforward. I’ll only be traveling with carry-on luggage. Do you have any tips on where to look or which routes/airlines might be best in this case?"

    1. Direct flights Porto → JFK aren’t super common (mostly just TAP and Azores Airlines, and Azores only flies it once or twice a week in winter), but when they drop they go cheap.

Right now the lowest nonstops for Dec/Jan are sitting at $336–$420 round-trip on the days they actually fly. Set a Google Flights alert with “nonstop only” checked and you’ll catch the next dip. Black Friday sales start tomorrow and winter fares usually bottom out $350–$450 if you’re flexible with dates. Anything under $500 direct is solid these days. Good luck!

    2. Rome2Rio. Skyscanner. Hopper. Google Flights with a VPN set to a low cost-of-living country.
