Absolutely insane that part of Walmart+ service is that you pay so much a year and you get free delivery. And then they sit there, Like all the other fast food places and everywhere else where tip culture is going crazy, and they want you to potentially give the driver a tip.
You already have us in a chokehold that we need to spend $35 even with Walmart+ so that margin should be going to the drivers in some form or fashion. But the thing is if you order something from Amazon and it's $10 it's $10. So the fact that we already have to deal with the $35 minimum even with the Walmart+ is enough.
The whole Walmart app is still kind of crap but I like the direction it's going but they're going to have to be a lot more friendly with the benefits. Maybe even let us join Sam's club with a Walmart+. I think that would be a pretty nice perk to get people into Sam's club. But what do I know?
I just know the tipping culture is going crazy. And even as worker myself who can get tips, I don't expect them because I'm not going to leave my job and then go to Starbucks and tip them to do their job. It's just the way that corporations can offer a potential benefit without having to do it out of their overhead
Walmart+ please get rid of the tip option. It should be baked in the coat without making us feel guilty

Can you post a pic of the coat?
I don’t use this service, but is this for just where they have to do your food shopping? Or is it for every delivery? Because I can see them putting in a tipping feature for people who are running around and doing all your shopping, but not for just a warehouse delivery.
I apologize. The voice to text really messed up. And I didn’t even look it over
i disagree with the tip option. i more-so disagree with a tip option prior to receiving any type of service.
just don’t tip lol idk why that’s so hard. i never hit the 0 button faster than i when i see that option pop up on my screen
I don’t have walmart +, but I get stuff delivered from Walmart, and I’ve never had to spend a minimum, nor been prompted for a tip.
Sounds like walmart + is overall just a money dump
Yeah Walmart sucks. It’s a massive reason I never use them other than shipping items (and only if I know I’m going to breach the 35 dollar amount).
Kroger and its boost membership is way better in my opinion. It pretty much pays for itself with its coupons with some items being free occasionally, the membership is half the cost of plus, and there’s not even an option to allow tipping as it explains in the FAQ Employees are their own in-house salaried ones.
Idk if you do delivery I feel like that’s tip territory.
As long as I remember you should tip delivery drivers. Idk why this would be any different.
My big beef with it is I’ll pick shipping then they freaking deliver it.
Just so you know, Target Circle does the exact same thing…

I agree. I actually just signed up for the $49/yr deal but I will use the video and shipping options only. I refuse to tip on a service that uses free delivery as lure to get you to sign up. I don’t have to tip Amazon drivers. If Walmart really is serious about competing with Amazon the tipping expectation has to go.
i just sub for the $1 then lucky for me am going to get the sub a year for $50. Other then saving me an hour of round trip driving, it seems worth it. that and i just order to be mailed wtf ever i want and dont need a min.
It’s because they use independent contractors for regular deliveries and you know how underpaid gig drivers are. If you upgrade to InHome which is around $40 a year you get tip free delivery and it’s done by Walmart employees in Walmart trucks. They don’t have to come in your home, I always had them leave them on my porch. It does change the delivery window to a 4 hour timeframe which was annoying for me.
They have the yearly add on for $49 a year that eliminates the required tip which I think is worth it and I believe it gets rid of the order minimum as well, not positive though. Also if you aren’t aware Walmart+ gives you a subscription to Paramount+ or Peacock.
Walmart plus is $4.16/month if you get it during the sale.
You can easily save that amount just on gas from the 10 cent per gallon.
Walmart does not increase its prices for delivery orders. Places like Publix sneak in a price increase on every item when ordered online.
Walmart pays someone to walk around and collect your order. Then pays someone to deliver the order with their personal car. On groceries that you aren’t paying more than in store for.
Even ignoring Walmarts profit/expense. The driver is only getting a small amount that barely covers their expenses much less make them any money.
I happily throw $5 towards the driver for every order because gas, wear and tear on my vehicle, dealing with people and my time are worth way more than that!
You’re complaining about a $35 minimum…if you don’t like it don’t use it
I don’t mind tipping for delivery. What bothers me is that if I choose shipping, sometimes that is delivered by someone just like the delivery is. I do feel like they should get a tip for delivering, but I have no idea what is going to be shipped and what will be delivered. Also, just a few days ago I placed an order, mostly groceries, and a few odds and ends for stocking stuffers that were a great deal. Placing the order, it seemed as if would be delivered together. Cool, I chose a tip and placed the order. It ended up coming in 4 separate deliveries the same day. I shouldn’t need to tip 50% for each driver to get a decent tip. I don’t even know if the tips were split, some drivers may have gotten nothing. It seems like there should be a better, or at least clearer way to order.
Join Walmart Plus in home and they won’t ask you for a tip. Also you don’t have to tip for Walmart Plus. I know they put a spot in there, just don’t tip. When you’re tipping the people that are delivering you’re just paying their wage rather than Walmart. The Walmart plus fee is already paying them for delivery. I know this is Harsh, but they know what they’re getting paid when they do their deliveries. Tipping would just be extra. Also I think Walmart can pay their delivery people better, it’s just their way to get around not giving benefits. If they can afford the Denver Broncos and they’re building a new stadium in Denver without using the taxpayers money, I think they can afford to pay people. If you can just don’t shop Walmart. Personally I love Amazon. I don’t have these issues.
There are two options with Walmart+ for $160 a year you get the option to have the ordered delivered by Walmart employees. When you choose this at checkout there is no tip option. If you choose the regular scheduled delivery options then Walmart is using a ride sharing service like uber to facilitate delivery. Those drivers rely on tips for income.
I highly recommend you upgrade your service to the higher tier with no tip delivery. I do about 2 orders per week and used to tip $10 because my house is sorta far. Now I’m saving nearly $1000 a year by no longer needing to tip when it’s Walmart employees who are paid a fair hourly wage and using a company vehicle that they don’t have to pay for gas and maintenance on.
Ah, the indignity of the priviledged. Poor little thing.
join r/endtipping. The tip demands everywhere you look is out of control.
Exactly, I flipping hate pressing 0 on the tip. But I can’t afford to pay the w+ fee and 5-10 each delivery.
I agree!!
I just pay $40 extra a year for in home delivery (no tips). I get grocery delivery from them every week so it works out to be cheaper since I would be spending way more than $40 a year in tips.
If you want no tip you have to upgrade to InHome. It’s worth the $40 a year in savings over tipping the uber eats and favor folks though, and the employees who do the deliveries make more money and get an air conditioned vehicles to make the deliveries with.
The really annoying part is how they have a preselected tip amount that’s a percentage of your order, and sometimes when you make changes to your order it will reset your $0 with their amount again. I have a disabled family member that depends on walmart+ for grocery deliveries, and they also struggle with getting easily confused, so it’s a real problem how the system is designed to steal money from you.
It’s not a tip if you add it in without my consent and then try to add it back in quietly after I remove it. It’s an optional fee you’re trying to trick me into paying.
If you want to tip your drivers give them cash at your door. From my understanding they bundle orders and give the drivers one amount for all of them, so if you’re a good tipper I think there is a reasonably good chance they’re using that money to subsidize the delivery of multiple orders. I have no way of proving that, but if I give the driver cash at the door I know that money is extra on top of what walmart was going to pay and that it’s all going to them.
I have it and its pretty dope.
A few things I gotta point out:
Youre comparing delivery from store (like grocery) to shipment from the warehouse (even if it goes with essentially a doordash driver). W+ has this option to get free delivery with no minimum as well but not on all items.
Amazon grocery has a minimum as well ($25) and youre expected to tip. This service costs $10/month (100/year) on top of your prime membership, so youre paying at least double. And thats if you dont wait until the holiday season when walmart has offered $50/year memberships in the past (not sure about this year, but probably).
I add a 10% tip for any groceries I have delivered from WM+, Ralph’s or Albertsons. I appreciate the convenience and feel 10% is worth it. FWIW, There’s a window available after delivery to change the tip should there be any problem. (Just my 2 cents)
That’s what inhome is for. You pay a little extra so tipping isn’t a thing you have to worry about. You SHOULD be tipping if you’re not paying the extra for inhome.
I feel no remorse about not tipping. Although i do tip often for walmart bc the money i saved not going to the store and buying something i did not need compensates for someone delivering it to me
This is why I don’t do deliveries for Walmart anymore.
Yeah as soon as I realized this, I switched to doing pick up. That has some problems of its own sometimes but my main concern is not having to go into that zoo to find what I need.
A couple years ago I told myself Fuck feeling guilty. Its not my responsibility to pay your employees. I dont care if they are contractors or not. I legit believe their are bots online who shit these posts to continue the tip culture.
Huh?
I absolutely will tip someone who brings me my groceries in their personal vehicle with that personal vehicle being subjected to the use/wear/tear that gig work involves.
You have the ability to adjust your tip within 3 hours of delivery.
And I do not have that option in my location for Walmart employees nor is there a Sams club nearby. I work 12 hour shifts and these folks are making my life easier and they deserve credit for it.
Tipping at Starbucks, McDonalds, fast food places, etc. No. Obviously. But this isn’t the case here.
1. The app doesn’t suck it’s actually one of the better shopping apps, I’d argue more user friendly than Amazon. Especially store mode and scan and go.
2. Sure the $35 min can be a pain but if you plan your groceries out effectively you shouldn’t be running into that and if you are you can ship non food items for free.
3. Why would they possibly include Sam’s club with a Walmart+ that would be a terrible business decision?
4. If you feel guilty about not tipping that’s your feeling. I’ve tipped once for Walmart+ and been a member for probably 3 years. Never had an issue with someone being shitty to me for not doing it.
Being frugal means not paying for services you don’t think are worth it… not complaining to get it cheaper
Absolutely agree. 100 percent. I don’t tip for delivery and it should not even be an option. If I order shit from Amazon I don’t tip
As a former driver, it’s not gonna happen. Driving for Walmart’s spark delivery platform, over 50% of my earnings were tips. Walmart pay is very low on its own and they’d have to pay a lot more for it to be viable. Already I don’t see how they make money from deliveries, it’s surely lower revenue for them as opposed to people shopping for themselves in store.
I’ve found that if the tip isn’t enough, the driver just doesn’t bother.
I don’t need to know who delivers Walmart groceries. I don’t need their back story or how much they make. That is between Walmart and the drivers. My interaction is between me and Walmart
