This is Oak land California. East Oak land to be exact in an undesirable area (high crime).
Back in August, I signed up for OpenDoor, their offer was laughably low. Many other realtors in the area also gave me very bad offers. I wasn’t in a huge rush to sell although I don’t want this asset anymore, and I don’t want to go through repairs and staging.
4 months later, I get an email from OpenDoor and they increased their offer by $100K ($500K->$610K). I understand they will nickel and dime me with repair costs so I won’t get $610K. Plus commission. But the massive increase is … intriguing?
Coincidently, 2 days before they sent me this email, my neighbor listed her home for $575K. Her home has 3 bed 2.5 bath while mine has 2 bed (1 unpermitted addition) 1 bath.
Any guesses as to what might be going on? I’m tempted to take the offer as I don’t want to do staging/prep.
Opendoor offer increased their offer by $100K a few months after I declined, what happened?
