The largest line I saw on black Friday was at the food bank.

Was this due to inflation and high prices driving the increase? Would be interesting to see the number of goods sold and their average price from previous years to now. I would wager the number of goods sold would be less but a higher average cost.

It’s the same phenomenon when a summer blockbuster comes out and breaks all time records.. most money made without acknowledging the product is 3x more expensive than it used to be. Volume is down and that’s the only indicator that matters.

It’s funny, because inflation is lower than in the previous years. Why weren’t we getting these articles the last few years when we REALLY “paid more for less”?
Inflation is at 3%. It was up above 9% and we weren’t getting these stories. We were hearing about how great the Biden economy was.

The only reason sales numbers surged was because prices are higher. Doesn’t mean more people are buying stuff.

Only the gullible. Keep your coins and dollars from the greed beasts. Buy from small proprietors. Give an experience as a gift. Concert or theatre tickets. A local spa, or year membership to State park. Something other than the crap the big box brings into this country.

IOW it sounds like “increased” sales in $$ are due to inflation.
