orthodontist lied about submitting prior authorization for my retainers charged me 225 for half the price of top retainer and now won’t give me money back

i went to my orthodontist again after not wearing my retainers for years i was there at 18 now im 24

I called to made an appointment and she told me nothing about the insurance coverage or cost of this

they told me as i’m sitting in the chair about to do the impressions it will be 900$ for both top and bottom….i was in shock

They said they could just do the top today and it will only cost me 225 and then when it’s finished, they will charge the other 225 if I want to do it that way

basically never even telling me anything about insurance until I called back after I came home and I said I want to know if Insurance will cover it and she said oh we already submitted a prior authorization but it’s not guaranteed they will accept it, but she never even mentioned that I feel like she just told me that just shut me up and because I seem young, she thinks I’m stupid

Anyways, I called my insurance United healthcare community plan through Medicaid,

they told me coverage for orthodontic treatment ends at age 20 and it is not covered anymore and they never received any prior authorization.
The lady at the front desk told me it’s very busy this time of year and they sent it but she’s lying because my insurance usually gives me a notification on the app that they received a prior authorization. It was never even sent to even be looked at or in process.

The payment went through and automatically my Apple Card was charged and it’s been one month so they definitely got the money. but if I ask her if I don’t want the retainers anymore, I don’t have them, but they took the impressions and made the mold. I’m assuming what will happen now is there anything I can do or say to her that i can make them refund me if she gives me a hard time? i want to seem smart bitchy like her she talks like i’m her child.
