Right now I am renting a home and I am planning to buy directly from the owners with a closing date targeting January 9th. Since I am buying from them directly, I am not using my own realtor.

The inspector said he found some moderate damage from a hail storm a few years ago.

He said the damage is “borderline” and I’ll have more details in the report. Would it be wise to get an estimate on the total cost of repair?

Also, once I have that estimate how can I negotiate that with the seller?

Roof damage on home I’m buying. Need help!

Yeah definitely get that estimate before closing, you don’t want any surprises after you own it. Most contractors will give free estimates so might as well get 2-3 opinions on the damage

For negotiating just be straight up with the sellers – show them the estimates and ask them to either fix it or knock that amount off the purchase price. Since there’s no realtors involved you guys can probably work something out pretty easily
