I'm looking at an investment in Nola but I'm hearing some terrible things
Crime, extreme homelessness, extreme poverty… and Voodoo. I know it sounds crazy but it happens. Does anyone have any thoughts on this part of the country?

Does anyone hear have experience investing in New Orleans?

I think if you’d do some really basic research, you’d find that voodoo does not in fact impact real estate investments in new orleans. And if you believe that voodoo does play a part, I would highly suggest you find alternative investments.

Really interesting points here! I’m trying to understand how small investors evaluate long-term property value, and I’d love to hear more about your experience. If anyone’s open to sharing ideas or walking me through their approach, feel free to DM me!

I love New Orleans, and I browse their markets often. Everything you mention is true, and crime isn’t just a certain part of town. It’s a block by block basis. What scares me the most are insurance rates; some areas are uninsurable.

City Park area is normally a safe bet and well kept, but you’ll see higher prices.

Voodoo doesn’t affect anything ha ha

Any market can work. There’s A class places, B class, C class and D class in every major city. I don’t personally own in Louisiana but it’s more about finding the right property and buying at the right price more than anything.
