pretty much the title. i have sabbatical for 3 months now and was posnning to start working again(entrepreneu, f/32y), but as december is coming to an end I‘m starting to feel anxious about working again. I think I was mentally burned out (not physicall) and I’m not sure how much more time I need to recover. Would love to read your experience from this type of burnout. and how much time it took you to be excited or at least not anxious about work again. I also feel guilt because my husband is supporting me financially now and even though he doesn’t push me or do anything to make me feel bad aboit it I just put this pressure on me that I should be starting to work again. I would love to hear from some ladies also how they overcome this internal pressure.. Would be really greateful for some support here and your wisdom. thank you

    1. not a ladies, but I know a thing or two about burnout, my own experience and lots of clients I talked to. Very common, nothing to be ashamed of.

We sometimes behave like high pressure cooking pots, and if we do not find a way to release the pressure building up inside, we end up ruining dinner!

Your burnout is highly like due to expectations and reality not being aligned.

I can bet if going back to work was something that brings you excitement, that is aligned with your identity and vision, you would not feel all this pressure. Probably just some excitement and some mixed feeling due to the change but nothing more.

Work on your deeper why, find a way to reframe what you do in alignment with your vision and beliefs, and you will immediately feel a release of pressure on you.

Face it, do not run away from it or hide while keeping yourself busy.

The time needed to “recover” is completely up to you and different from person to person. Do not rely on other people’s experience.

It’s you in charge. You will do great!
