The crazy part is that we could promote faster connection if the money we also put back into hybrid solar systems for homes. Instead of that extra going back onto the grid, it could easily be put back into batteries locally, used locally and the grid it self doesnt have to worry about as much overhead. You can even go as far as to allow smart connection to these systems so you get a little mini-power plant as well that the grid can draw power from the batteries.
