There's about 1.7 million of you who have a fire hazard. Was quoted ~$15K for GFCI updates, and the fix. Hear there is a real issue and wondering if there's anything else to know. This would be a ~$9K job in Jan 2020 but contractor prices have skyrocketed it seems.

Has anyone dealt with Schneider Electric and rewiring a townhouse?

    1. What kind of fire hazard? $15k for GFCI’s in a townhouse? You are leaving out a whole lot of details here.

    2. Oof that pricing jump is brutal but yeah that’s pretty much the new normal post-COVID, had similar sticker shock when I got quotes for electrical work last year

Whenever you get bids like that you need to get 4 or 5 bids. Find local people or look for contractors located within 50 miles who are in a lower cost of living neighborhood. GFCI updates by itself is not that expensive, what specifically are they doing? That price tag is in the realm of complete wire and panel replacement.
