We just closed on a unit that was gut renovated! The floors look relatively clean to the eye but their pockets of white dust smudged throughout the unit. Should we hire post-construction cleaners and duct cleaners after extensive renovation? My partner thinks its overkill and that we can just wipe things down

Who cares if it’s customary? Do it.
Run your hands along the wall, even up high, and see what comes up . . . mine were covered with yellow dust from the hardwood floor refinishing, and that yellow dust ended up staining things. So look for unusual things that need cleaning! Even freshly painted ceilings might need wiping, if they painted first and then refinished the floors.
my builder changed the filters. that should pretty much do it. but yeah go ahead and higher duct cleaners if you like
