I wanted to share my experience with US Bank customer service. I’ve been a cardholder since 2021 and been using the card for 4% on foreign trips for dining. I’ve been keeping tabs on them slowly nerfing the card. In 2024 and earlier this year, I saw posts saying no more 0 FTF so I requested a card member agreement in May and saw that I was still grandfathered in at zero FTF. I travelled abroad in the summer and got no fees but missed the updates that apparently since 8/15 now everyone including grandfathered customers have a fee. I am currently abroad and I got hit with the dreaded FTF charges. I called customer service and was told that I’ve always had a 3% FTF since opening the card in 2021!!! I told them I signed up for the card for the no FTF but the CS rep held firm saying that I’ve always had a fee. I was dumbfounded and eventually recovered telling the rep we could go back and look at a statement from a foreign trip I took in the summer that had no fees. The rep agreed and then looked it over and stated it was strange that there was no FTF fees on over 30 transactions. I asked for a refund on the fees due to this and the rep agreed (I think?) then said they were gonna send out a card member agreement as proof of the fees and then hung up almost immediately. I couldn’t confirm if I was getting a refund or not. I can’t believe I was just so blatantly lied to. Also I was never officially informed of this change. Prob going to cancel everything just annoyed cuz the cash+ 5% on utilities and cell phone keeps me around.
