Applied for CFU online for the $300 SUB. Did not get instant approval, figured it was because I moved less than 3 weeks ago and Experian still had my old address.
Called Recon several times, was told I would get a response in 3 days (today) and automated message said 7-10 days. Got my letter saying it was because of how too many active accounts or too much available credit.
Called Recon, rep said they would have “another team” reach out to me regarding my application. Asked if moving credit lines would help get it approved, he said that I could ask customer service (?) for this. So I called customer service and they said I needed the lending/underwriting department, so she transferred me.
Talked to lending/underwriting which told me Chase takes into account how many accounts have been opened recently and for how long (5/24) and how much credit I have. She then said that I had called earlier, and my Recon request had been processed but then said that the appropriate team would reach out to me regarding the application. I told her I would move credit lines if it helped getting it approved, but she reiterated a team would contact me.
I’m 4/24 (without counting Ink cards), and looks like about 56% of credit limit with Chase against my stated income, which is why I offered to move credit lines around.
Has anyone been tossed around like this before? I thought Recon was the team that could get it approved, but she said since “another team” (underwriting again?) declined it, they would be the ones to review it again. Is this new? Not my first time calling recon but it had never been this hard.
Chase Reconsideration for CFU

Yes, Chase has made it harder to reach recon throughout this year. If you dont hear back from the recon team, I would proactively reduce your limits and then call back within the 30 days to see if that can push the approval through.
