I only used the disposable pads for a really long time.
Then around last year, I was thinking of trying some cloth menstrual pads (reusuable).
I bought some from Amazon and they are a great choice for me to save money so far.
when I have a heavy flow, I found my cloth pads do not work well so I use the disposable pads but otherwise, I use the cloth ones to save money and plus it is environmental too (feeling good).

Buy a pair of period panties. They work great for my heavy days.
My wife uses a reuseable silicone mentstral cup. Eco friendly!
Try The Brand Hannah for heavy days. Also have a look on Etsy, Amazon isn’t a great source of these.

That’s awesome! I’ve been using the same reusable pads for over 15 years. I love them! Much more comfortable than disposable.
Last year or two I also started using a bidet and washclothes. More comfortable than using toilet paper in my opinion, and saves so much, too.
I’m looking into making reusable Kleenex and paper towels out of old, holey clothes.
Cloth menstrual pads or reusable period panties remind me of similar arguments promoting cloth diapers over disposable diapers. Both choices get a firm NO from me.
Sometimes convenience is worth the extra cost. I’ll happily embrace frugality with my many other frugal behaviors.
Why????? Just use the menstrual cup. I personally can’t imagine using cloth for periods. Sounds like the menstrual equivalent of using a diaper and all the unpleasantness that that entails. The cup seems like a way better solution to me, one that feels more secure and is more dignified imo.
I wouldn’t trust any fabric from Amazon down there. All knock off microplastic crap.
I found i didn’t get cramps as bad with reusable pads and less irritation!
I have two pairs of period underwear plus three cloth pads, and I haven’t had to use a disposable one in ages. My flow is medium to light.
A cup would possibly be less hassle (no extra laundry), but I have issues with things that go on the inside (could never get used to tampons either).
I used Lunapads for 10+ years (before my gym put me on continuous birth control to manage perimenopause symptoms) and they were the best!! I’d just hit em with some oxiclean spray and wash them on hot and they were good to go. And saved on money/waste!
I like using reusable period panties.
Hannahpad is a great brand for cloths pads! They have different absorbency levels and work the best out of any I’ve tried. They’re pricy, but worth it for sure!
Period underwear are such a big upfront cost, but so so so worth it! I like using a reusable cup, but have period underwear for the days I think I’m done but there’s still some period left. Haha
I love my cloth pads. My heavy days are usually such that I just need to change them a little more often, thankfully, because my big reason for switching from disposable was the rash I get from the adhesive.
