Not sure if this gets asked a lot but i (f 32) have been reading about sustainable investing and im genuinely fascinated by the idea that there are businesses that care about the planet, not just profit
i like the idea, but i have no clue where to start or how to find a financial coach who can help me do this the right way. like how do u even know if a company is actually sustainable vs just marketing??
if anyone here invests this way, share some starter tips? did u work with a coach and how did u find one? also, share any major red flags when in a coach
just trying to learn and not get sold something or fall for greenwashing lol
How to find a financial coach for someone who cares about the planet?

The title “financial coach” carries zero legal weight.
Be careful about the financial advisory industry.
Personally, I find that there is greater yield for effort in:
* Just following the principles of investing according to the PF Wiki.
* Use broad market index funds.
* Accept the bad with the good in my investments. Refrain from picking and choosing.
* Do my charitable work by donating to or volunteering with organizations that I believe in. In other words, separate my social/environmental/charitable work from my investing. I use my gains from investing to support causes I believe in.
Why?
I have found the ESC focused stuff very untrustworthy. Everyone touts their version as the best. I, as an ordinary citizen, dont have the skillset to vet every business included in such funds. And they also tend to not perform as well. So I find that my dollar goes further for what I believe in by separating investing from my beliefs.
I have only one piece of advice: sustainable investing isn’t about perfection.
No company is 100 percent clean. It’s more about alignment and direction over time.
A good coach helps u balance values with financial reality so u don’t feel like u have to choose between doing good and building wealth.
