Something my friends and I have been doing for the past 15 years as a tradition is having a January Re-Gift exchange. We originally started this tradition during college as our exam schedule then winter break was not conducive to holding a holiday party. Since we were all broke college students, instead of buying a gift for our white elephant, we hosted a re-gift exchange. Folks bring a gift they will not use or purchase a thrift store gift (max $20 spend limit). We've kept the tradition over the years even as people's financial situations and life circumstances have changed.

It's a super fun tradition and helps us celebrate in a frugal way.

    1. This is a great idea! It’s kind of like an in person Buy Nothing group. I’ve often considered hosting a free sake with my Buy Nothing group but haven’t managed to put it together yet
