I literally bought off Walgreens a 6 double roll set for $12.99… Amazon has it for $23.90
I always find Amazon to be the cheapest and most convenient place to purchase home supplies.
Bounty is the only item I do not purchase off Amazon because I always find them cheaper at Walgreens or CVS (specially with coupons)… and I live in NYC! So that says a lot.
What do you guys think? Have you found this same thing to be true for you?

Bulky items are really expensive to ship through the mail.
Because Amazon is trash.
Almost everything is cheaper local.
Cloth napkins and washable sponges will greatly reduce the need for paper towels.
Buy these at Costco, Sam’s Club, Aldi’s, US Chef Store or Smart and Final. Much cheaper. Grocery Outlet and Winco have cheaper paper goods as well.
Mostly it’s the logistics cost of having to transport, store, pick & ship a large sized item with a low profit margin.
Paper towels are reserved for very nasty messes for me (ie cat puke). Now that I’m without felines, I don’t buy them at all (I have a roll from when I cleaned out my late grandma’s apartment that hasn’t been touched).
It’s easy to switch to using cleaning cloths or rags instead.
It’s important to understand how amazon works. The listing you’re looking at is not sold or even shipped by amazon. With walgreens current sales, other rolls cost almost the same when they’re shipped/sold by amazon.
Seems like a great opportunity for a seller to enter the Amazon marketplace and undercut the competition by a few bucks, assuming it can be done so profitably.
Idk. But Sam’s Club and Costco are great places for paper goods. I probably pay for my membership is toilet paper and paper towel savings alone.
3rd party vendors jacking prices up
For name brand paper goods shipped, I highly recommend Sam’s membership. You do have to spend $50 for free shipping. But you can easily meet the threshold on paper goods shipped in bulk. In my opinion, the Sam’s brand paper towels and toilet paper are the best price per SF and equal in quality. No having to hunt for a deal. Sometimes Proctor and Gamble products such as a Bounty do go on sale though if that’s your preference.
Because Amazon has been tracking your online activity for years and knows how much you are willing to spend on every item.
The cost of your “free shipping” is absorbed into the price.
That exact same bounty package (6 double rolls) today costs $22.99 at my local grocery store store. So if I bought Bounty $12.99 would be a deal for me compared to what my grocery store is selling it at.
I’ve often found Amazon to be more expensive for lots of home supplies and certain personal care items. Lowe’s actually has good prices on home cleaning supplies, and a good amount of variety. Costco is also good, though then you need the space to store it all!
