I know it sounds bad, but i’ll try to make this as short as possible. I was just involved in a pileup on a PA highway with around 9(?) cars. It was hailing/snowing, really cold out, and so the roads were icy. I was driving on a two-lane highway and was on the left lane when a couple hundred feet in front of me i saw there were cars that were stopped. I tried to get out of the way, and since there were no cars behind me on the right lane, I started to switch lanes. However, I started to slide and while that was happening, a car in front of me starting spinning and hit another car. Then a blue SUV from behind me crashed into my drivers side door (presumably to avoid that spinning car) and we ended up in the middle of the pileup. I did not hit any vehicles and thankfully, no one was physically injured by the time i left the scene of the accident.

For some more info, I’ve (21F) been in other car accidents before but this is my first pileup and wasn’t thinking straight hence why i forgot to take any more photos. I had two passengers (sister and cousin) who are both unharmed. The driver of the blue SUV that hit me looked to be a teenage girl, and she was physically unharmed.

Basically, two cops arrived at the accident pretty quickly before I could even process what happened. I wasn’t thinking clearly and made the mistake of not taking any pictures (aside from a picture of the damage to my car) or exchanging any information with anyone. After one of the officers took pics of my car and took my information, he said that I could leave the scene since my car was still drivable. He said he wanted to clear the highway as fast as possible. He also said that he would call me the next day with the incident report number. I was maybe the third person who was involved in the accident to leave the area.

It’s now later in the night and I was able to file a claim with my insurance. I gave them all the details I knew but obviously, couldn’t give them any of the other drivers’ information.

After I receive the incident report number, will my insurer be able to get all of the other drivers’ information and take care of it or am I screwed? What should my next steps be; just a game of waiting? Any information would be so appreciated since I am psyching myself over this.

Involved in multiple car pileup but left with no information
