I had to leave my truck as it was stuck in the snow and after hours of digging I could not get it out. I called AAA and they set up a case to have it towed to my house. The snow continued, highway shut down, cars stuck everywhere, so AAA closed my case to focus on life threatening cases because they couldn't find anyone to go get my truck. Nevada Highway Patrol ended up having it towed. I got it out of the inpound lot from the tow company and there is a terrible banging sound and it sounds like it's been damaged. I haven't taken it to a shop yet as I was focused on trying to get it back somewhere safely.
I'm hoping to get the tow reimbursed from AAA ($663 as it was a holiday). What are my other options? Will state farm cover some of the damage even if I didn't use their roadside assistance service?
It's been a rough holiday.

Too many what-ifs to answer your question fully. If the damage is Collision related, like the truck got bottomed out on the roadway or something during the tow, you can file a claim with your insurer if you carry Collision coverage. Or, you can get the tow company info from NHP and try to file a claim with them. That has problems because you would need to prove they caused the damage.
If the damage was caused directly by the tow driver doing something incorrectly that may or may not be considered a covered Collision or Comprehenive loss by your insurer. Again, depending on what and how whatever was damaged.
Personally I would take it by a shop and have it checked first to see what’s actually wrong and what the most likely cause was before I start filing claims.
For the tow reimbursement, you should be able to submit for reimbursement through AAA. Depending on the charges some or all of it should theoretically be covered.
