Is this still something being considered. I’ve read things periodically suggesting this might be an option but haven’t heard anything reliable outside of PSLF? Any links to related threads or articles also appreciated. I’m struggling to sort through all the info available. Thank you!

There is no buyback option for IDR forgiveness – only PSLF.
There is no buyback for IDR forgiveness. That is a specific (new) thing for PSLF
I wouldn’t plan on it; or at a minimum, it won’t look like it does with PSLF. There’s the ‘120 months of qualifying employment before submitting a buyback request’ requirement. There isn’t anything like that for regular IDR.
That was something that was going to start with the rule that the SAVE court case blocked. It never actually got started and it’s a dead idea (for now) if that rule gets eliminated as part of the proposed settlement.
Hopefully it’s an idea that gets brought up again in future neg regs.
