    2. This is why the housing market will not be more affordable in 2026. Even if prices do not rise and they are projected to increase about 1-2%, insurance, property taxes, utilities and maintenance continue to rise. These articles just consider prices in a vacuum and not the other mandatory costs that accompany a home purchase. Only when home prices adjust for the other costs will housing prices become more affordable.

      I don’t think the drop in prices is substantial enough to be meaningful. Especially since Mortgage rates have hit as low as they can go given the resilience in long term yields (bull steepening)

      We’re living in a world that has moved beyond the 40 year bull market in bonds. Borrowing costs will continue to be tougher, particularly for those borrowing at long durations (homeowners)
