I applied for and got four credit cards last year:
Capital one venture rewards (personal) in February
Chase Business Ink (business) in June
Aeroplan (personal) in August
Southwest rapid rewards performance business (business) in October
Both of the two business cards were for my real estate/rentals business. My goal was to get organized to the point where I have one credit card/bank account for each state that I own property in, so I would use one credit card for expenses in Washington, another for expenses in Oklahoma, etc.
In December, we bought one more house. I applied for another business card (Chase Ink Business Cash) on 12/31 and was denied. I called the reconsideration line today and was denied again, even after explaining this.
The rep said it was because I had just opened two business credit cards recently. That is true, but I’ve never missed a payment or been late. My credit is about 820. When I brought this up (politely), they said they were extending a lot of credit to me and I had already gotten perks and bonuses from those other cards, and kind of acted like I was being ungrateful to want another credit card.
I know the 5/24 rule for personal credit cards, but I am only 4/24 on those, and will be down to 3/24 in March 2026. Is there a similar rule for business cards?
I asked if it would make a difference if I lowered my spending limit on my other cards. She said it would not, but when I got off the phone, I called to lower those limits anyway.
What would your next step be? I just got an offer for a Hilton Honors business card with an elevated sign up bonus, so I’m thinking of applying for that one, but I just don’t know if it would be worthwhile if I will just be denied there too. (With the property we just purchased, I have a major expense coming up and would like to get a sign-up bonus on some card for that.)
TIA, seasoned churners!
Denied for a Chase business CC – what now?

Amex will pull your credit, but they have been good to me. I just got the Hilton (3rd biz card since May with them) after Chase denied me a 4th business card. The good thing about Amex is they usually don’t pull your credit again after the first card.
So they approved you for 3 business cards within 7 months? All for the same business? That’s a great data point, thank you! I actually just canceled my Hilton honors surpass card (personal) 2 weeks ago. Had it for 4 years but haven’t been using it much for the last 2.
It has been the case for the past several months that Chase is highly unlikely to approve a business are application when the application already has 2 open Chase business cards. That’s why you were denied.
