I have been doing seasonal work in Montana the past couple of years while using a permanent address out of state (currently Utah as my girlfriend live here and I use her address as my personal permanent address), and decided to start my own LLC due to my partner and owner of of the company I worked for committing suicide early fall.

I decided to start my own LLC in Montana and continue the legacy we had been building. However, I cannot get my two cars insured even though they will reside in Montana for 8-9 months out of the year because they have no permanent garaging address in Montana. I can’t use my registered agent’s address as the garaging address obviously; but they allow my business mail to go there, so no need for a business address.

The reason for this is because our work was very nomadic and we were living out of our rigs 95% of the time (usually have a week long gig, and then the weekend would be spent driving to the new location), and then I would crash on his couch the days we weren’t working or camping ourselves. Due to this I was planning on just living out of my van the entire season while using my gym subscription to shower and such (I have a portable stove for cooking).

My issue is that no one wants to touch these cars since I don’t have a garaging address in Montana. So how the hell am I supposed to get insurance, or do I need to just transfer these back into my name, and give up on this dream?

The work is very very seasonal due to being Montana along with I like to be in a residence for the cold winter months (my GF can’t move due to work and I don’t want to rent a place in Montana to make this work… just more money down the drain I was hoping to save), and I bring the van back with me because I then use it to get to the Utah slopes in the winter, along with not wanting to rent a place just to garage vehicles for the winter when we have a garage at my GFs place and it has space.

Do I just need to find someone willing to rent me driveway space for like $25 a month or something?

How do you get insurance when you don’t have a garaging address?

Where are the vehicles parked? That is the garaging address. There is no such thing as a “permanent garaging address”.
