This card is currently inactive for me, and I haven’t paid much attention to any news or updates about it. I haven’t closed it because I heard that once it’s closed, I won’t be allowed to open another credit card with SoFi.
I’ve seen posts mentioning a $10/month fee for the 2% SoFi credit card.
I want to clarify: Is the $10/month fee for the SoFi Plus Membership (which applies to the 2.2% SoFi Card), or does the $10/month fee also apply to the SoFi 2% credit card? I do not want to pay any fee on an inactive card.
Edit: I just closed the card, although I am not sure if I will be impacted (likely not impacted, great credit score). But I close the card anyway.
Quote from SoFi customer service:
"Only members receiving an email notification are impacted by this change to their Sofi Unlimited 2% credit card. If you are impacted, you will be notified by no later than January 15, 2026."
"Please be aware once this account is closed, you will not be able to reopen it or reapply for a new SoFi card. "
SoFi 2% Credit Card $10/month fee: Is it for SoFi plus only? Or for every card?

Some users are being charged $10 but not all for the credit card. It sounds like if you have a riskier credit profile, you’ll get an email.
You will get an email if you are targeted.
Based on my understanding it is separate
– Keep 2% credit card instead of closing it: $10/month
– Get SoFi Plus which also increases card rewards to 2.2%: Additional $10/month
So $20 a month if you want the card AND SoFi plus. But the card then becomes 2.2% still I believe
Also who they chose for the card fee is not based on risk assessment. Their goal is to charge everyone $10/month so they can get rid of the card. They lose money and are focusing on the category-based cards they now have
That’s a crazy rule. That if you close your SOFI card you can never apply for another SOFI card.
