Anyone else reuse ziplocks? I don’t rewash them if it’s really messy or greasy but if it’s an easy wash I like to reuse them. Also Costco brand are so good lol.

Been looking at reusable vacuum seal bags. Got some that I hated, but still looking.

Yes I do but I do not reuse them for food.

I use to reuse zip locks by washing them but eventually I switched to use glass containers. They are easier to clean and lasts a lot longer, but they are less space efficient.

Yep, sure do. I got stasher reusable silicone bags for most things but I wash out most ziplocs when I have them.

Yes, we freeze slices of homemade bread with parchment paper squares between slices so they don’t stick together. Two people can’t eat a whole two pound loaf without it getting moldy. We reuse the ziplock bags and parchment paper many times. I freeze fresh fruits in season on cooking sheets to keep them separate when put into ziplock bags. We reuse those bags. There is no need to wash those uses. We bulk cook and store frozen portions but those bags get tossed as not worth the bother to wash chili soup or beef stew bags.

Yes and no. I use them for marinating meat. I started building up a supply of Stashers for food.

Yes. I also like reusing these for the things like block cheese, turkey bacon, brown sugar, etc. I still keep the food in it’s original packaging and shove the whole thing in a ziplock. The food would otherwise dry out or drip and make a mess.

As long as they didn’t have anything messy or greasy in them they get reused. Have probably been using the same one for a year to keep open stacks of crackers from going stale.

Yup. I do a lot of freezer packing in ziplocs. So long as it’s not too greasy, I flip them inside-out, wash, rinse, and dry fully.

I reuse Great Value large gallon zip lock bags to dispose of kitty litter. My hubby uses GV quart sized bags to throw out empty cans of cat food.
This seems to be an effective way to use a used bag for us.

Hmmm what about those silicon ziplock bags? They would be better substitution but they are bit expensive.

I reuse them, after washing, except for if they had meat in them.

The Freezer ziplock versions seem to be the stoutest. Occasionally, bad meat or something makes them gross or impractical to re-use, but most do get washed and re-used.

Only if it was barely used and not messy

nope. for me, it’s not worth the risk of getting sick b/c i won’t clean them good enough.

Yes. Don’t wash them if they ever contained meat though.

I do that too.

I reuse them, but I dont wash them. For example I refill the same one with dried fruits as a snack bag for work.

Of course.

Not for food. Plastic degrades and I don’t find that the bags wash completely clean. If I need to toss something smelly or especially gross, I may reuse a bag for that purpose.

I reuse the ones I use camping til they break. I use them like compartments/stuff sacks for easy access and organization. But they just store nonfood items, so they dont have to stay clean, just dry/intact.
I don’t reuse for Ziploc food because I use reusable Tupperware instead. I don’t use any disposable material for food storage.

Maybe i should but no i never do . I seldom use them .

As long as it didn’t have raw meat I’m all for it.
Raw I toss. (Sometimes secretly, no one tell my hubby)

100%! Less so for frugal reasons and more for the environmental aspect. Such a shame to only use once and throw away.
Only time I won’t reuse is if there was raw meat in them….otherwise I try to reuse as much as I can.

I just put a drop of Dawn in, soap it up, turn it inside out, and dry.
I am, somehow, still alive.

Makes sense, BUT I would not reuse them if they have been used with any sort of raw meats, or any meats really.

I just prefer to use Anchor-Hocking glass food containers. Ziplock bags are seldomly used for things that don’t make sense in other containers. I try to avoid plastic.

Use them mostly for freezing things like muffins and bread. But I try to minimize their use – reuse a lot of bread bags from the store instead. Use a lot of smaller bags for my daughter’s lunch bags unfortunately since reusable bags and glass containers take up so much space.

I usually wrap things that get frozen in plastic wrap before putting them in gallon-size bags to prevent freezer burn and am constantly reusing the gallon size bags—often no washing required!

They don’t clean very well, and they break down with being washed, so this is one I don’t bother with. I’ll use more durable reusable containers if possible, but sometimes ziplocs are the best option.
ButtholeCleaningRug on
This is unwise. There are likely micro abrasions in this bag that are prime breeding grounds for bacteria. Even using things like dish soaps are not going to a great job of removing biofilms. Just throw the bag out or buy something that’s designed to be reused. This seems frugal until someone gets sick, then your 1 cent savings costs you days of work.

It depends on what was stored in the bag. Cookies? Reuse. Raw chicken? Discard.
