This is just like Venezuela where the potus was confused as far as why Exxons ceo implied Venezuela was an unprofitable waste of time.
It’s very clear this guy doesn’t make logical decisions and shouldn’t be trusted to even tie his shoes properly, no idea how he won after his first term.
The guy is such an idiot. He thinks the ice is going to melt and reveal pots of gold. He doesn’t think about where all that water is going to go and how much that will cost. Nor does he consider just buying rare earth materials from Denmark if they ever develop them, like the way it’s done normally in an open market.
This is “Grab them by the pussy.” on a world stage. “And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything.” The thing is, we ARE letting him do it.

What a strange headline. What other place would a Greenland mining dream be about? No need to mention it twice. Seems like there’s no editor on the article.
As for the substance, that’s right. If it made sense to mine the place, it would have been done already. People follow incentives, and spreadsheets make it clear why the place has not already been stripped bare.
Also the costs are not nearly as well surveyed as people seem to think. You need a bunch of infrastructure to move the mined materials, and you can’t just build bridges and tunnels without knowing what the ground looks like, and I mean separately from the ore seams. You can’t just plonk down a bridge, you need to know that conditions are right for that. And Greenland isn’t a place where that kind of stuff has already been done, having about 60k people spread over an area a third the size of Australia.

I found these sentences quite interesting;
> Greenland’s stringent environmental regulations would add expense and difficulty to widespread mining.
> Of course, those regulations reflect the local population’s desire to keep the environment pristine. If the Trump administration somehow made those regulations disappear, it might prove deeply unpopular.
As soon as Greenland becomes American, Trump will abolish all environmental protection laws there. That’s pretty much the one thing he cannot do for as long as Greenland remains Danish🤔

So trumpy thinks he’s going to make America dominate the western hemisphere even more than they do now. And does he / Heritage Foundation think we’re all going to be grateful? Does he /HF think we’re going to be happy to be vassals and subjugated to America? America will have constant disharmony and more ‘policing’ than they do now. This will not go the way MAGA thinks.

I wish a reporter would actually call out his bullshit.
When he argues that Greenland is vital for security and that if the US doesn’t take it then Russia or China will then the reporter should say;
“But Greenland is part of NATO and is protected by it, which includes the US. Also, there is no activity near Greenland by Russian or Chinese ships. Also, why has the US military presence in Greenland been reduced by so much if it’s strategically important?”
They could go on;
“Do you just want Greenland for the US so you can paint the Stars and Stripes on it and prefix something with the word ‘Trump’?”
“Are you just interested in your legacy being that you expanded the United States square footage and spearheaded a new wave of imperialism?”
“Do you think you could easily get access to the $3.2T of oil in Greenlands territory?”
Or, probably nearer the mark;
“Are you just saying what you are told to by the P25 cabal to sow chaos and confusion and you don’t really understand anything that is going on?”
