    1. Our grocery bill has been steadily increasing, and we’ve lowered our beef intake by quite a bit to try to compromise. Meanwhile I know people who have been looking for a job for quite awhile and don’t hear back from the job listings most of the time.

    2. Just today I saw cans of store brand coffee for $17.99.  The same swill that was $9.99 a year ago.

If you want coffee that doesnt make you hate life, $25

Once again I am *begging* this sub to reject “Trump claims…” posts. We need a rule against these. These do not have anything to do with economics, and do not, and cannot, lead to any meaningful discussion of the topic of economic thought.

At the very least can we kick start a list of forbidden news sources? I feel like half of my comments on the sub these days are opining why I don’t think the posted article has merit.

    4. Tbf. despite some worrying signals, data isn’t half bad. Biggest problems in theory are stagnant labor market, but salaries theorethically grows well including median ones, unemployment is still low, core inflation is elevated but not to some ungodly levels and GDP is growingg really well.

      The thing is:

      a) almost all of this things hold true with a vengance last year

      b) data for the US become unreliable. Most people knows about problem with labor market data, but kind of because of that they are lower problem. Other data are becoming less and less reliable.

Example: inflation. One comentator on one [pointed out on simple problem](https://www.reddit.com/r/Economics/comments/1qbujxv/comment/nze6gej/): dependence on estimation of data for CPI increased from around 10% until February up to 40% now. And yeah: it’s a new thing, previously (checked with archives) it was firmly ~10% under Biden.

And that’s the problem. Because although I don’t go conspirational, if administration wanted to falsify data the numbers would look better, still this data almost certainly doesn’t reflect reality fully and may underestimate negative trends.

    6. I spent $130 on TWO BAGS of very basic groceries yesterday. No meat, we really only eat loss-leader rotisserie chickens (one can be stretched over most of a week if we’re careful, plus broth) and tofu anymore unless its a holiday or we’re cooking for company.

    7. Everything just keeps on getting more and more expensive. When you see “market price” on a menu for carne asada at a Mexican restaurant, that says a lot about the state of inflation.

    8. Trump has made more money as president than he ever made in his businesses. Of course he is going think and say things are great. Because they are…for him.

    9. We’ve learned that any details following “Trump claims…” are either wrong or an outright lie.

The news in virtually any form is click bait now.

Sorry, I’m just stating the obvious. If I had the solutions, I’d be a lot more famous!
