I have had aig insurance for past 8 years. I moved last year and still carried my insurance. We had a terrible hail storm several months after I moved and the roof had significant damage. The roof was replaced with very little issue and I was very pleased. It was my first claim ever with insurance.
I recently got a notice that the escrow on my home mortgage doubled because my home insurance went up. It turns out the prior owners had two claims on the home insurance went the past few years, one for a water leak that ruined the basement for which they installed a water shutoff system and apparently a roof issue a few years ago which was unbeknownst to me.

Is it normal to be held accountable table for previous claims on your house? I had an adjuster walk the house after we moved in and there was no issue?

Likely switching to cincinatti insurance at half the price for same coverage.
