Hello – Looking for insight from insurance professionals or others familiar with fire claims.

    Location: OC, California

    Timeline

    • 6/2025 – Fire loss (kitchen/dining)

    • Adjuster estimated ~3 months for claim resolution

    • 9/2025 – Temporary housing began

    • Now 6+ months post-loss with minimal construction progress

    Key issues

    • Contents removed immediately; cleaning estimated at 1 month → took 4 months.

    • Only received cleaned items list + total loss list; no full itemized contents inventory.

    • Structural wall removal delayed for months due to permitting but restoration did not communicate this.

    • Construction projected to start mid-10/2025; wall removal completed end-10/2025. No further work.

    • Electrical scope is unresolved:

    — Older home, not up to current code

    — Fire-related electrical damage in kitchen/dining

    — Electrical proposals submitted 12/2025, approval still pending

    ALE / reimbursements

    • Adjuster instructed one week of clothing and to submit receipts

    • Hotel and clothing receipts submitted 8/2025

    • Food reimbursed 10/2025

    • No lodging reimbursement to date, despite follow-ups

    • Significant credit card interest incurred due to delay

    • Told ALE will be exhausted end of 1/2026, despite lack of construction progress

Looking for perspective on whether this handling aligns with typical fire claim timelines, ALE practices, and reimbursement standards, and what escalation paths usually work best in situations like this.

Fire claim stalled 6+ months, reimbursement delays, ALE exhaustion, electrical approvals – seeking input

    1. You didn’t answer the most important question which is why isn’t construction ongoing? You’re not getting more than your limit regardless.

It’s very unusual to have no reimbursement for housing paid by this point but there’s clearly a lot missing from your story.
