Chinese manufacturers aren’t going to be able to produce ultra affordable EVs without paying workers low wages (like they are able to do with the workforce in China). There isn’t some engineering secret that they have in China that allows them to make lower cost vehicles. It’s simply labor costs. If they’re built here it’s not going to save consumers money, but at least there will be more competition, which is good in the long run.
